I purchased my second pair of these shoes so I would have an extra pair for the future. I wear an orthotic in my right shoes and these shoes have plenty of room for that with the two removable foot pads. There is plenty of room in the toe box which is important for me. They have been durable for almost 2 years and I have worn them hiking at home and in the mountains in Colorado and North Carolina and other than some abrasions on the toes they are holding up well. The waterproofing is solid in puddles an inch or two deep which is all you can ask for a low top walking shoe. They are a little warm in the summer due to the waterproof membrane, but comfortable most of the year. The only improvement I would want is a nice toe cap as I tend to bang my toes into roots and rocks. While I consider them expensive, their durability and fit justified the price. Glad I found Drew Shoes.Update: After wearing my original pair for two years, I have lowered my rating slightly. The problem is that the heal on the shoe wears too quickly. I put a lot of miles on these shoes including mountain hiking. I have a strange gait and the right side of the left heal wore a lot and so unevenly that I needed to switch to a new pair. The rest of the shoes are still in very good condition, and I hated to retire this pair as they are certainly not cheap. For the price, I would think that Drew could put on a Vibram sole and heal which are more durable.
